PE Activity #24 - "Kickball"
OVERVIEW:
Kickball is a classic playground game that is similar to baseball but played with a large rubber ball that is kicked instead of hit with a bat. The objective of the game is to score runs by kicking the ball and running around the bases while the other team tries to catch the ball and get the kicker out.
EQUIPMENT:
Large rubber ball
Bases or markers to designate the field
Cones or markers to designate the boundaries
SETUP: Set up the field by placing bases or markers to designate the playing area. Use cones or markers to designate the boundaries.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Divide players into two teams and place them on either side of the field.
The kicking team takes turns kicking the ball and trying to run around the bases while the other team tries to catch the ball and get the kicker out.
A player is out if the ball is caught in the air, they are tagged with the ball while running to a base, or they are hit by the ball while not on a base.
The game consists of a certain number of innings, with each team getting a turn to kick and field.
The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.
MAKE IT EASIER:
Use a larger ball that is easier to kick.
Allow players to run in a straight line between bases instead of having to touch them.
Increase the size of the bases to make it easier for players to reach them.
MAKE IT HARDER:
Use a smaller ball that is more difficult to control.
Add more players to each team to make the field more crowded.
Use a larger playing area to make it more difficult for players to reach the bases.
