PE Activity #17 - "Blob Tag"

OVERVIEW: Blob Tag is a fun and active game that involves teamwork, communication, and strategy. Players work together to tag other players and join together to form a "blob" to tag more players.

EQUIPMENT: No equipment is necessary for Blob Tag, although it can be played in a designated playing area such as a field or gymnasium.

SETUP: The playing area should be designated and boundaries should be set. All players should start on one end of the playing area.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. One player is designated as "it" and must chase other players to tag them.

  2. When a player is tagged, they must join hands with the "it" player to form a "blob."

  3. The "blob" can then work together to tag other players by stretching out their arms and trying to reach them.

  4. If a player is tagged by the "blob," they must join hands with the other players and become part of the "blob."

  5. The game continues until all players are part of the "blob."

MAKE IT EASIER: To make Blob Tag easier, players can be allowed to break away from the "blob" if they can successfully tag another player on their own. You can also limit the size of the "blob" to make it easier for players to avoid being tagged.

MAKE IT HARDER: To make Blob Tag harder, require that the "blob" must move in a certain pattern or direction, or require that players can only break away from the "blob" if they can successfully tag two or more players on their own. You can also increase the size of the playing area or add obstacles to make it more challenging for players to avoid being tagged.
