Overview:
This is a fun activity to teach moving with various balls. Can be plated with almost every sport!
Equipment:
Multiple balls (Soccer, tennis, AFL, basketball)
4 hoops
Cones for playing area
Bibs or sashes
Setup:
Place 4 hoops in corners of a square area (basketball area or coned area 20x20m)
Divide all the balls up evenly and place them in the hoop
Divide group into 4 teams and allocate each one to a corner
Instructions:
The aim of the game is to have as many balls in your hoop at the end of the time
Everyone must run around trying to 'steal' balls from other groups and put them into your own
You can defend your hoop but can't touch anyone else
You must move the ball in the correct manner. For example, soccer balls must be dibbled with feet and basketballs must be dribbled with hands. You can defend and tackle opponents using the relevant skills - tackling with feet for soccer ball, defending basketball etc)
The winning team is the one with the most balls in their hoop at the end of nominated time!
Make it easier:
Have just one type of ball
Have plenty of balls
Say no defending
Have a long time limit
Making harder:
Incorporate multiple balls and required skills
Have fewer balls
Allow defending
Have a short time limit
